Course Description

For most of us, our home represents the largest portion of our assets. Trying to sell a house or apartment or condo in today's fast paced market, quickly and profitably,  has the potential for turning anyone's world upside down. Knowing what is important so you can meet your buyer's expectations is a necessity. As a seller, you will want to get the most value out of your home in the shortest time possible.
This course will help the seller create an individualized house preparation timeline, outline simple steps to eliminate potential problems, give ideas about decluttering, cleaning, repairing, and show you how to stage your house for a successful Open House.
The instructor will also offer personal assistance with student's unique selling problems. Whether you plan on  putting your house up for sale in 30 days or 60 days, or whether you are just beginning to think about the selling process for a future date, this course can help you maximize your profit and reduce your stress!



Course Requirements

You won't need a background in any particular area to take this course but you should have a high school reading level. No books are required. You can download and print out any lesson information for future reference.

You'll need some kind of notebook, spiral is good so you can flip to the page you're working on.

If you would like to send me pictures of problem areas in your house or apartment or before and after shots to share with the class or for assistance with decorating and accessorizing, you'll need a digital camera or a scanner. These are not course requirements.

Course Goals

This course has 3 main goals:

1. To help you sell your house for a profit.
2. To help you sell your house quickly.
3. To reduce your stress by helping you prepare.

Grading Policy

For most students in this class, the goal will be to sell your house not get a great grade. If you're taking this class to help others stage and sell, please let me know and we'll work something out in regards to the activity assignments.


This course will provide you with ideas to help you sell your home quickly and profitably. It does not guarantee that you will sell it by any given date or for the price you would like.

Learning Outcomes

By successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  • Describe initial planning and preparation of selling your home.
  • Describe timelines and turn-offs.
  • Describe exterior and curb appeal.
  • Describe how to clean, declutter, and what to repair.
  • Know how to declutter your house.
  • Describe what to do when it's showtime, and
  • Demonstrate mastery of lesson content at levels of 70% or higher.
