GED Preparation for the Language Arts, Writing, Part 1 is one of 5 courses in our GED test prep series. This course will cover basic skills needed in successfully completing the section of Part 1 of the Language Art, Writing the GED exam. The class will review: - Common Grammar and Spelling Errors (usage) - Common Sentence Structure Errors - Organization - Mechanics These lessons will focus on the current skills plus the updates implemented on the GED exam. In order to succeed on the GED exam overall you have to be able to read, compute, interpret information, and express yourself in writing on a level comparable to that of 60 percent of graduating high school seniors.

Characterization is the method a writer uses to create fictional people that seem lifelike and so real you can imagine them in your mind.

Lesson 4: Lesson 3: Point of View

The point of view lets you know who is telling the story.

Lesson 5: Lesson 4: Interpreting Poetry

Poetry is full of emotion and ideas. It may rhyme, but it doesn't have to rhyme to be considered poetry.

Lesson 6: Lesson 5: The Language of Poetry

The best poetry contains a lot of imagery and clever language. For that reason, poets use metaphors, similes, and personification to achieve this.

Lesson 7: Lesson 6: Interpreting Drama

Drama is a form of literature that uses action to tell a story.

Lesson 8: Lesson 7: Interpreting Prose Nonfiction

Anything you can read that presents true, factual information is nonfiction, and it's all around us every day.

Lesson 9: Lesson 8: Literary Nonfiction

Biographies entertain as well as inform, and let you get to know the person that the biography is written about better than you would have otherwise.
