Course Description

From the basics to specific styles, How to Decorate a Room covers a full spectrum of decorating fundamentals and practical advice. Design basics like choosing color palettes, dealing with lighting options, and determining a floor plan are made easier with step-by-step instructions. Achieving specific styles within a room is attainable with in-depth discussions on color, furniture, and even fabric choices that convey specific themes.

Practical concepts are also covered such as decorating on a tight budget, and dealing with small and awkward rooms. Specific styles discussed include Victorian Romance, Relaxed Pastoral, Beachside Chic, and Sophisticated Glamour. Each style is discussed at length, focusing on topics such as the style's influences, main attributions, and specific elements required to recreate the style. Keeping personalization in mind, alternative options and ideas are presented, giving students the confidence to customize any style according to personal tastes.

Embedded within each style lesson are focused discussions dealing with particular decorating aspects like decorating with plants, avoiding a museum looking formal room, and decorating for all five senses. These discussions allow the student to acquire an arsenal of decorating techniques.

This in-depth decorating course was created for novice decorators who need a bit of guidance, or even just inspiration. It is designed to offer plenty of ideas, tips, and boost your design capabilities and creative confidence.
