Course Description

Everywhere you look there are issues in society that need to be addressed in the public eye. Many of them involve problems that are only harming the community, yet no one seems to be actively doing something about it. There are people all over the world who saw problems and issues in their community and decided enough was enough. Instead of ignoring the problem or simply complaining about it, they took action. Some of them joined organizations that seek to help the community with these problems. Others found themselves inspired and took it a step further, creating a non-profit organization focused on those issues.

Perhaps you have been inspired to take action yourself. Maybe you’ve been a part of a non-profit, but didn’t feel like it was doing enough to act. Whatever the cause, you have sought out this course with the intent of creating and managing your own non-profit organization. It is a noble task to undertake, and this course intends to provide you with what you need to be successful in this endeavor. The course will be broken down into two parts:

The Creation Process

  • The first half of the course will cover the steps needed to properly form your non-profit. This includes aspects such as naming your non-profit—which is more important than you’d think—and finding members. It will also discuss elements like the board of directors, volunteers, and leadership skills.

  • The second half of the course will discuss how you can manage your non-profit once it is formed. This includes fund development, marketing techniques, and tracking your performance in the not-for-profit sector.

At the conclusion of this course, you should have all that you need to successfully create and manage your non-profit organization. We challenge you to go forth and take the next step of your journey in the non-profit world!
