Course Description
This course is focusing on uses of the "scruffy" brush, along with other brushes. The scruffy brush designs are Joan's originals, some of which have been published in The Stroking Edge Magazine.
You will learn about brushes, paints, surfaces, guardian angels, scruffy cats, dogs, and bears, scruffy flowers, scruffy Santa, holiday tree, holly, and wreath, wiggle leaves, one stroke leaves, ferns, grass, foliage, fences, string bows, and flower shapes, as well as completed designs. You will be given Joan's original pin construction, as well as other cutout uses.

Course Goals
The goal of this course is for you to be able to paint scruffy dogs, cats and bears, scruffy flowers, guardian angels, scruffy Santa, wiggle leaves, one strokes leaves, ferns, curlicues, string bows, fences, foliage, grass, and flower shapes. You will be able to use elements alone, and with others, to create your own unique designs. After completing this course, you will be able to share your creativity through gifts, bazaars, shops, on line vending, craft shows, as well as home decor.
Course Materials
Students will need to obtain the following supplies: Folk Art acrylic paint by Plaid Colors: floating medium (colorless), wicker white, green forest, thicket, sunflower yellow, school bus yellow, burnt umber, maple syrup, berry wine, licorice, dioxazine purple, engine red Brushes: Plaid by Donna Dewberry Sizes: Small and Medium scruffy, #12 flat, #2 script liner Miscellaneous: foam plates (palettes), paper towels, wax paper, brush basin, soap bar or detergent, artist practice pad (50lb.paper weight is good or paper) or PC copy paper is a good practice surface.
Grading Policy
No grades are issued in this course. Your quizzes are geared toward your understanding of the lesson and thinking creatively, when you are painting.

Instruction Method in this course.
The instruction method used in this course is the "One Stroke" method. One stroke means, you blend and highlight all in one stroke. This is a simple technique that anyone can learn, no matter, what your painting experience is. You will be learning topics, one stroke at a time, and will build to a complete design.
How do you complete this course?
Completing this course is submitting all the lessons and assignments, which will be reviewed by the instructor. The instructor will send you feedback, as you submit these. The instructor automatically gets these by e-mail, when the student "completes" the assignment or lesson. You have 6 months to complete this course - plenty of time!
