Course Lessons

  1. Lesson 1: Write Tidbits from Tots through Teens - Tidbits--those small filler items that literally "fill" odd spots at ends of pages and, sometimes, entire columns. A number of children's magazines today are even composed entirely of short "sound-bite" type material.
  2. Lesson 2: Make-Its - Short, fast craft projects for kids sell, sell, sell! They aren't difficult to write, but--
  3. Lesson 3: Rewrite--It's a Vital Step - You've written down the "meat" of your items. Now it's time to make them saleable.
  4. Lesson 4: Building a Market List - Please read "To Market To Market" and "How to Read a Magazine" for general marketing information, as well as this lesson.
  5. Lesson 5: Cooking for Kids - Kids "like" to help cook. They "love" to cook something all by themselves.
  6. Lesson 6: Back to Stove for Revisions - One of the great things about writing is that words can always be changed and made stronger.
  7. Lesson 7: Marketing Your Goodies - For this lesson, please review "To Market" and "How to Read a Magazine" in Lesson 4.
  8. Lesson 8: Freestyle! - This lesson and the next are geared toward tidbit writing of any kind you want from three choices.
  9. Lesson 9: Final Rewrites - We are almost done. This time I'd like to see your final rewrites in on the five "your choice" items written for the last class session.
  10. Lesson 10: Market Reports - Aha! You did it!
