This course will cover basic skills needed for a successfull completion of the GED essay (GED Language and Arts Writing Test Part 2). The lessons include: 1. How to read an essay topic  2. How to prepare topic ideas  3. Practice (and more practice) writing the essay -5. How to revise and edit your final work before submission  and 6. General information about exactly you need to do to pass this section.

Course Description

This test prep course will focus on the basic skills necessary to successfully complete the GED essay (GED Language and Arts Writing Test Part 2).  The majority of students preparing to take a GED test will often have the greatest problem with the essay exam.  GED students often lack the confidence, the experience, and  the skills required to write a passing essay. This course will provide each of these factors; and GED students will gain the confidence (because of course informational tips and strategies),  and gain experience and skills (with the course writing essay practice and grammar review) to successfully tackle the GED essay test.

This course will focus on the Essay portion of the GED exam.

This class will cover: - How to read an essay topic - How to prepare topic ideas - Practice (and more practice) writing the essay - How to revise and edit your final work before submission - And Information about what you need to do to pass this section. The majority of students needing to take a GED test will often have the greatest problem with the essay exam. The reason is that most students lack the confidence, experience, and skills required to write a passing essay. This course will provide each of these factors; and GED students will have the confidence (with provided informational tips and strategies), experience and skills (with writing essay practice).
This course offers 3.0 CEUs upon successful completion. You may take this online course with or without CEU documentation. An online and hard-copy Certificate of Course Completion displaying your coursework and CEUs earned is included with the CEU Option.   2. Writing Strategies Followed in Preparing for Your Essay - This lesson will provide a recommended structure to divide up the essay time period. In addition, this lesson will review how to take notes and provide an outline to help you write on a essay topic.
  3. Writing an Essay - In this lesson you will practice writing. You will be expanding your notes and outline into the final essay.
  4. Types of Essays - Here we will review the various essay types you may be answering, such as explanatory topic or opinion topics.
  5. Revising Your Essay - Revision, a very important part in writing a passing essay
  6. Review of Sentence Structures and Writing Tips - Effective essay writing will require a basic understanding of sentence structures rules.
  7. Review of Paragraphs and Writing Tips - Effective essay writing will require a basic understanding of the organization of paragraphs.
  8. Scoring Guide - How the GED essay is scored, and the content areas evaluated will be explained
