Course Requirements
This course does not require any previous medical background. Any aged learner (above the age of 13) is welcome.
This online course contains 12 easy to read lessons which can be completed at own pace (access to course upon enrollment will be available for up to 6 months)
Course Goals
-Define and understand the importance of the study of Biology
- Understand the History of Biology
- Chemistry Involved in the study of Biology which include matter, atoms, the Bohr Model, the Periodic Table, Macromolecules, Metabolism, etc.
- Cell Biology: structure of living organisms, positions on the food chain, the flow of the ecosystem, and the process of the cell cycle.
- Classic Genetics: history of the study of Genetics from the studies of Charles Darwin to the controversies surrounding cloning
- Molecular Genetics: break down the genetic code and understand how genetics occurs; the important roles molecular geneticists play covering such topics as: obtaining DNA for Analysis, cell culture, isolating DNA, etc.
- Principles of Evolution: The facts- theories- and controversies surrounding 'Evolution'. Topics will include what biologist really think, the studies of Darwin, natural selection, and the contemporary beliefs on Evolution. - Plant Diversity and Reproduction: the classification systems and plant reproduction. plant cells and tissue types, plant transport, various plant activities, lifecycles, and biotechnology and plants
- Animal Diversity: classifications, definitions, and animal phylum’s, nutrition, respiration, circulation, excretion, homeostasis, coordination of the chemical, nervous systems, mobility and reproduction
- Ecology: contemporary ecological issues, world population facts, ecosystems and Biomes, and Conservation Biology

Grading Policy
Each lesson is followed by a end of the lesson multiple choice and T/F Quiz (each worth around 20-25 pts.) Some of the lessons will also be followed by an assignment based on lesson facts and opinions expressed.
70% or higher will be required in order to complete this course.
