Course Description

Effective business writing is an essential component of workplace success.  This course focuses on the most common forms of business writing, with specific styles and formats we may not have learned in school.

Specifically, the course includes lessons on how to write clear and effective letters, memos and reports, plus rules for better emails (a form of memo).  We will also review language, grammar and sentence structure.

You will have the opportunity to practice what you learn by completing exercises and assignments, and will receive feedback on your work.

This course allows you to work at your own pace, on your own schedule.  You have a maximum of 6 months to successfully complete all the requirements in order to receive a certificate.

This course offers 1.0 CEUs upon successful completion. You may take this online course with or without CEU documentation. An online and hard-copy Certificate of Course Completion displaying your coursework and CEUs earned is included with the CEU Option. We also offer an expedited Transcript Service for sending your accomplishments to a third party.

  6. Lesson 6: Powerful Letters - Letters are still one of the strongest forms of business communication. This lesson will help you send the right message through your letters.
  7. Lesson 7: Effective E-mail and On-Line Writing - What impressions are you sending through e-mail? This lesson provides tips for how to apply business writing principles to electronic media.
  8. Lesson 8: Better Memos - The memo format is used for internal communication, whether on paper or via e-mail.
  9. Lesson 9: Business Reports - This lesson reviews the types of reports and tips for clearly presenting your information.
  10. Lesson 10: Review and Resources - A chance to practice what you have learned in this course, plus suggested resources.
