Poetry helps us to be better thinkers. Reading poetry helps sharpen our minds by making us look for connections between ideas that aren't immediately connected. It also helps us to express ourselves more eloquently through imagery and metaphor. Poetry gives us new ways of understanding ourselves and others.

In this self-paced class, we will be looking at the basic tools of poetry, such as imagery, metaphor, concrete language, rhythm, and description, as well as different schools of contemporary poetry. We will be using assignment prompts and model poems to help you to write your own poetry and come up with ideas for future work.

Enroll today! This is a self-paced, online course. You have 6 months to finish. An instructor will monitor your progress and assess your body of work at course completion.
