In this Advanced Course, we will primarily be learning the tricks of the trade of an animal behaviorist, working with pound puppies , and introduction to Therapy and Service Dogs. Also a glimpse into the life of a Professional Show handler/Judge. General dog care for the show dog and family pet will be included. The goals of this course are to move the student closer to working with their own dogs, or in the pet industry. Students will gain general care knowledge, behavior training for rescued animals, and insights into the show arena. Students completing this course will be able to utilize the knowledge they have gained from the combination of the 3 courses to successfully open a pet sitting business, train their own dogs, and handle some emergency medical care. Students will get a look into how a behaviorist assesses dogs and the varying approaches for working with phobic or aggressive dogs. Students will gain useful knowledge no matter what their association with dogs.

Course Description
This course is a follow up for the Beginner and Intermediate Courses. Students will learn about behaviors and working with behavioral dogs. How an animal behaviorist works and why their expertise is so necessary in training behavioral dogs will be discussed. Also in this course, more training techniques, and general care for the average dog and the show dog. Students will learn routine vaccination schedules, proper feeding for the puppy through adult dog, and other care techniques. Service Dog and Therapy dog training will be introduced. Students will learn the difference between a service and therapy dog, and how some dogs serve a dual function. A look into Professional Handling and Show Judging will round out this course. Understanding ring procedure will be touched on, and the classes and the order in which dogs are judged will be taught. Students can look forward to an informative and challenging course.

To enter this course, students must have successfully completed the Beginner and Intermediate courses. Students will be required to read the text provided in the lessons as well as study the links provided. There is no required purchased reading material with this course. Students will complete all assignments and tests, and join in discussions and class chats. Students are encouraged to go beyond the scope of the lessons and engage in some research. Students who do so, are encouraged to post their findings for all to benefit by.
