The herbalist's path is a lifelong journey.  If you have a strong passion to learn as much as you can about herbs and the healing arts you are on your way to becoming a great herbalist. This class will be the foundation on which you build your skills as an herbalist. Learning a range of healing techniques will enrich your work with the herbs. The goal of this course is for you to learn basic herbal preparation techniques, and to understand the plants you study here. We will also explore healing traditions and the importance of balance.
 
This course will cover 25 herbs that you can find in your kitchen or backyard! They include Dandelion, Mullien, Yarrow, Nettle, Plantain, Calendula, Cleavers, Burdock, Yellow dock, Marshmallow, Red clover, Comfrey, Catnip, Chamomile, Alfalfa, Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Flax, Fennel, Ginger, Parsley, Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, Tumeric, and Garlic. Detailed descriptions with scientific names, constituents, associated aliments and recipes will be included. This class will also cover herbal consulting, herbal preparation, wind crafting and how to make herbal remedies for friends and family, basic herbal pharmacognosy, the spiritual aspect of healing, different types of herbal tradition such as Native American, Western herbalism, Folk medicine, and much more!  The hope is that this class will plant the beginning seeds of a very successful harvest for you!

  5. Making Herbal Medicines 1 - Material, herbal dosages, administering herbs,Tinctures, & Solvents. General guidelines for making all forms of herbal medicines and tonics
  6. Making Herbal Medicines 2 - Dosages, Decoctions, Infusions, poultices, powders, capsules, tea, sun extract, cold extract, bolus, Salves, steams, herbal baths, electuary, children's recipe, basic herbal vinegar.
