Have you always wanted to learn acupuncture? This self-paced course will demystify acupuncture treatments and techniques. Students will explore the history of acupuncture, acupuncture theories, diagnostics, factors that influence acupuncture therapy, treatment precautions, techniques, methods, and guidelines for prescriptions.

Providing a learning platform for acupuncture students as well as practitioners, this course will help develop skills in applying ancient and modern acupuncture techniques--techniques such as moxibustion, aricular acupuncture, cupping  and electro-acupuncture--to name a few. Topics also include point selection, disease diagnosis, treatment method, appropriate precautions, and accurate prescriptions.  If you're interested in learning acupuncture techniques or just interested in learning more about the field itself, this class will meet and exceed your expectations.

This course offers 1.0 CEUs upon successful completion. You may take this online course with or without CEU documentation. Course Lessons

  1. Lesson 1: A Short History of Acupuncture - In this first lesson we will introduce Acupuncture, provide a history of Acupuncture development, and its historical influence in other countries
  2. Lesson 2: Acupuncture Treatment - In this second lesson we will focus on different types of Acupuncture treatments. Topics will include Acupuncture Points, point selection and point matching, and other techniques to enhance treatment.
  3. Lesson 3: Acupuncture Techniques - In this lesson we will introduce the Classical Needling Technique, the Bu- Xi Techniques, Draining and Supplementing Hand Technique and the Dao Ma Needling Technique
  4. Lesson 4: Factors which Influence Therapy - This lesson explains the factors that influence the acupuncture therapy. You will learn about the fundamental principles, five elements, causes, methods of diagnosis and treatments.
  5. Lesson 5: Treatment Precautions - In this fifth lesson we will focus on the techniques and the before-after precautions that follow treatments. Topics will also include alarm signs of accidental injuries on important organs.
  6. Lesson 6: Guidelines for Creating Prescriptions - In this lesson we will focus on the guidelines to follow to create effective prescriptions.
  7. Lesson 7: Ancient Methods of Selecting Points for Various Disorders - In this seventh lesson we will return to our examination of the Chinese ancient beliefs and methods in selecting points according to meridians, and introduce commonly used points that are utilized today.
  8. Lesson 8: Acupuncture and Modern Science - This lesson relates acupuncture with the modern science based on five topics: Acupuncture and Modern Chemicals, Yin-Yang and Body cells, Acupuncture and Side-effect reductions, Acupuncture and Modern Treatments, and Acupuncture for Pharmaceuticals Replac
  9. Lesson 9: Finding Qualified Acupuncturists and Treatment Resources - In this final lesson we will go over tips to find a good acupuncture practitioner, Resources available for the acupuncture treatment, and Web Resources
