Course Description
The primary focus of this self-study course is medical coding on the Digestive System utilizing the ICD-9-CM and CPT coding manuals. Medical Terminology pertaining to the Digestive System is also reviewed to educate the student on the Digestive System.
Procedures and surgical instruments are discussed in the lesson to help the student advance their knowledge when coding Gastroenterology procedures.
The experienced coder will gain additional knowledge in Gastroenterology and Colorectal specialty coding, both in ICD-9 and CPT.
ICD-9 and CPT scenarios are provided for coding diseases and disorders of the Gastroenterology and related procedures (CPT 40000 series).
For the less advanced student, it is a course that would help gain knowledge of coding guidelines as implemented in the coding industry and to build confidence and speed when assigning codes. This a great way the novice student to practice on their speed in preparation for a coding certification.
