Online Class: Spanish for English Speakers

An online course uniquely designed to help English speaking students that are learning Spanish.

The lessons will focus on areas that give students the most trouble when learning the language. We will thoroughly cover when to use "Ser" and "Estar" in both the present and the past tenses. We will also focus on the different expressions that mean "to become" and "to get". Other topics will include: the subjunctive, the imperfect tense vs. the preterit, and Spanish prepositions.

Students will have the option to practice Spanish with the instructor via the chat room and receive feedback on their writing in Spanish.

(Students should have completed at least one semester of Spanish before taking this class).

Course Lessons

Learn and Practice "Ser" and "Estar" - This lesson will help students use both "ser" and "estar" correctly in both the past and present tenses. Through practice and examples the Spanish learner will feel comfortable with using both verbs.
Expressing the verb "To become" in Spanish - This lesson will cover the various ways to express the English verb "to become" in Spanish. This is one of the most difficult verbs to translate for an English speaker.
Expressing The Verb "To Get" in Spanish - This lesson will explain the many different verbs in Spanish that are used to express the English verb "to get". Examples and explanations are provided.
When To Use The Preterit and Imperfect Tenses - This lesson will explain when to use the preterit tense to describe past actions and when to use the imperfect tense to describe past actions.
When To Use The Subjunctive Tense in Spanish - This lesson will present how to conjugate verbs into the subjunctive tense and when to use this type of verb.
