Dr. Conrad Visser teaches New Age Movement: Historical Perspective . He strives to help students become independent in their thinking in dealing with New Age concepts by teaching the details of the many influences that make up modern-day New Age belief. Participants will be empowered to study the New Age Movement with confidence and equiped with a theoretical blueprint on the development of the New Age Movement through the ages. By course completion, students will be able to make informed remarks regarding the roots of the New Age Movement.

Course Lessons

  1. Eastern roots of the New Age Movement - This course starts by looking East at New Age roots in Hinduism and Buddhism.
  2. First Western influences - The first Western influences on the development were probably the Illuminati, Shamanism and Pythagoras.
  3. Second Western influences - The next Western influences on the development of the NAM were probably the Orphic Religion, Goddess Religions and the Schools of Gnosticism.
  4. Third Western influences - The third Western group of influences are the Hermetica, Plotinus and the Neoplatonic tradition, and the Christian Mystical tradition.
  5. Fourth Western influences - The next Western influences on the development of the NAM were Astrology, Witchcraft, Paganism, Magic and the Kabala
  6. Fifth Western influences - This Lesson looks at the roll of the Rosicrucians, the Freemasons and Hypnotism in the historic development of the New Age Movement.
  7. Sixth Western influences - The schools of Swedenburg, Spiritualism and the Theosophical Society also had an influence in the development of the NAM.
  8. Seventh Western influence - The Arcane School of Alice Bailey, the Anthroposophical Society and the New Thought Movement all had an influence on the NAM.
  9. Humanism, Parapsychology and Paraphysics - The three disciplines of Humanism, Parapsychology and Paraphysics also played a roll in the development of the NAM.
