Course Description

Adobe Flash CS4 can be a complex program to use and understand, even if you already have basic knowledge.  It's very easy to get lost in the interface and confused by the many features it offers.  This course was designed to solve the mysteries of Adobe Flash CS4, no matter if you're a beginner or more advanced user.  Each lesson is extremely comprehensive, but written in easy-to-understand terms so that, by the time you finish the course, you can use the Flash software as easily as you can tie your shoe.

The course starts out with an introduction to the software, followed by a tour of the interface.  Once you know your way around the numerous panels and menus, you'll start to learn the drawing modes and tools that allow you to create vector and raster images to animate.  Each lesson gives you plenty of instruction to learn, then plenty of time to practice.  All students are encouraged to take their time and become comfortable with each aspect of Flash that is taught before moving on to frame-by-frame animations and tweens.

By the time you finish this course, you'll easily be able to create:

  • Animations
  • Slideshows
  • Banner ads
  • Movies
  • Graphics presentations
  • And all sorts of other animation projects using Adobe Flash CS4

It's a fact that once you learn everything you need to know about vector and raster images, as well as movie clips and graphics, creating animations becomes a breeze.  You'll spend the rest of the course learning to bring graphics and other images to life, and delving into ActionScript to learn to create even more complex Flash presentations.  If you've spent time trying to learn more about Flash without much luck, then this course is exactly the solution that you need.

Course Lessons

Tell a Friend

Lesson 1: Flash Basics

Adobe Flash CS4 is a highly popular software program used to create animations and add interactivity to web pages.

Lesson 2: Creating and Managing Content

The first thing we're going to learn to do in Adobe Flash is to create shapes. This is very easy, especially if you're at all familiar with Adobe Photoshop.

Lesson 3: Creating and Managing Content Part 2

The Brush Tool is similar to the Pencil Tool in that you can easily draw a line just by clicking the mouse and dragging the cursor.

Lesson 4: Managing Website Content

The more objects you have in a document, the more disorganized and overwhelming it can seem. You may even find yourself accidentally editing the wrong object. The solution is Layers.

Lesson 5: Creating and Editing Symbols

Symbols are very important to using Flash. In fact, they're mandatory to creating animations and movies.

Lesson 6: The Timeline

The Adobe Flash timeline is used to organize a document's content.

Lesson 7: Motion Presets

Motion presets are basically pre-configured tweens that you can add to objects to make them move across the stage. But what is a tween?

Lesson 8: Adding Tweens

In the last lesson, we learned how to add a motion preset to an object to animate it. Now we're going to learn how to add a motion tween to objects on our own, without using presets.

Lesson 9: Animations Using Motion Tweens

Now that we've learned about motion tweens in the last lesson, we're going to practice creating them and also learn some more techniques.

Lesson 10: Slideshows

A slide show is a set of still images that your viewers can play in a sequence. If you've ever created a slideshow in MS Powerpoint, you'll be happy to know that you can also create one in Flash.

Lesson 11: ActionScript and Behaviors

In the last lesson, we talked about behaviors as they apply to slideshows. That may make parts of this lesson a little easier as we delve head first into ActionScript.

Lesson 12: Using Sound and Video

Flash CS4 allows you to incorporate sound files and video footage into your web-based presentations.

Lesson 13: Publishing Your Site

You can choose the way in which Flash CS4 exports the elements in your documents for publishing. Generally, you have to determine the capabilities of the user's computer, and then make trade-offs between quality and downloading speed.
