Class Syllabus: Stress: A Self-Help Guide

Learn why stress affects you. Stress affects all of us on a day to day basis. How we deal with stress is an individual choice and is often left untreated. When stress builds in our lives, we tend to feel the physical and emotional affects. In this course we will learn why stress affects us, why fight or flight (the body's natural defense mechanism) occurs and the difference between acute and chronic stress. Learn what the treatments are, both traditional and non-traditional, who to see and what you can do for yourself. There are no pre-requisites for this class. Knowing that stress is a part of life, why not learn to be proactive, not reactive to life's challenges.
Course Requirements
No prerequisites. You may work at your own pace but must finish this course within 8 weeks.
Course Goals
- To have a working knowledge of stress
- To learn of the resources that are available to you
- To learn self-help techniques to help during your stress event
- To design you personal stress management plan
Course Materials
There are no outside costs for this course. All material is provided within the lessons.
Grading Policy
This course is based on 100 points. Anything above 70 is a passing grade. All assignments and tests are required to be completed. Ultimately, how you deal with your stress will determine how successful you will be in dealing with stress.
