This course is for non-native English speakers, who need better English grammar and writing skills. This course consists of six lessons that cover basic parts of speech, punctuation, sentence mechanics (such as spelling) and sentence skills; beginning sentence building skills and there is an entire lesson devoted to problems with grammar that ESL students have. This course is taught by a college writing instructor who has worked closely with ESL students. By the end of this course, you will learn and apply your understanding of English grammar, mechanics, punctuation and sentence skills into writing subjects and predicates, complete sentences and entire paragraphs. You will learn how to construct sentences that support paragraph themes. This course is written in simple and clear vocabulary, so that it is easy to understand. Great for ESL students of all languages!

Course Description:
This class will focus on learning English to be able to communicate in common everyday situations with a person from the United States . Students who wish to sound more natural with their English and want to be able to use and understand colloquial expressions should sign up to practice their English. The goal of the class is to help get the students past the point of using only formal book learned English in their conversations. Enrolled students will have access to language exercises on target vocabulary and expressions, optional opportunities to chat with instructor, feedback on homework and tests, and numerous language learning tips from an expert. Only students who have some familiarity with English and English grammar (i.e. previous ESL classes or experience speaking English) should enroll in this course.

Teaching English Pronunciation (A -Z) in Asia

Course Description:

This is a course designed for people who are already teaching English as a second language in Asia . This course takes an in depth look at the different aspects of native Asian language articulation and how this relates to acquiring English as a second (or foreign) language. We will look at native Asian’s language and try to establish why certain English sounds can not be made by these students. Intonation and common pronunciation errors made by native people from China will be covered. We will establish rational for these errors, and arrive at conclusive facts as how to teach English pronunciation using the most effective and up to date methodology. This course will also look at the physical manipulation of Asian people’s articulators when they try to acquire English language pronunciation. If you are currently teaching English as a second (or foreign language) and you are looking for some answers to your students current pronunciation problems, then this course will equip you with the tools and understanding to help.
