Basic sewing is an introduction to sewing techniques beginning with fabric preparation and constructing garments using commercial patterns. The basic skills you will learn in this course will be utilized in your own garment sewing projects. You will learn how to straighten and block fabric and proper pressing techniques which are first and foremost in constructing garments and you will learn the different seam finishes required to neaten seams. You will learn to use commercial patterns in child's size to perfect your techniques. In addition you will learn the under construction that is necessary to give garments that professional appearance. Come join this class and see that sewing is very rewarding. Sewing takes some patience and only through practice do you improve, this course will provide this practice and you will be on your way to sew professionally looking garments that you will proudly wear!! * This course does require the use of a sewing machine along with the ability to thread sewing machine, thread bobbin, adjust stitch tension, sew forward, reverse and zig-zag stitches.
