Online Class: How to Become a Substitute Teacher & Get Substitute Teaching Jobs
Did you know that there's a severe substitute teacher shortage in schools across the nation? To cope with this growing problem, 28 states allow anyone with a high school diploma or a GED to substitute teach. And in all but one state (Iowa), substitute teachers require no teaching certification to cover in a classroom.
In schools today, workers in-between jobs, stay-at-home parents, retirees, recent college grads, and others seeking extra income are making money as substitute teachers--up to $150 a day in some school districts. Some districts even provide subs with benefits packages.
Other benefits of substitute teaching include:
1. Working a convenient, flexible schedule that fits perfectly with their children's school hours.
2. Having the opportunity to work daily while they locate a more permanent job or build a business.
3. Interacting with children in a stimulating and challenging environment.
4. Gaining valuable teaching experience.
5. Testing out a career in teaching.
6. Making contacts within school districts to locate permanent positions, and much more!
