Basic Course: $122.00

In classical Greece, Plato wrote that philosophy begins in wonder. 2300 years after Plato, we too, continue to wonder, and philosophize, about our place in the cosmos, as individuals, and as part of the human species. How should we treat other people and ourselves? How do we know ourselves and the world around us? What is role of faith and reason in our lives? Since such thoughts are part of our lives, we are, to no small measure, already philosophers! This course is designed to enrich each person's philosophizing, by helping each student to focus on the right questions, and to learn how the great philosophers tried to answer them. We present our subject matter as a History of Philosophy course. It provides a clear presentation, and summary, of the main figures and concepts in the History of Western philosophy. To help make the learning experience enjoyable to all, the basic material is presented in a series of easy-to-understand "philosophy poems", written by the instructor, with accompanying text. Whether you are a person studying for general interest, or a student taking a class on Philosophy, this course was designed for you -- to enrich your understanding of Philosophy, and to help make the learning experience enjoyable. Enroll today! This is a self-paced, online course. You have 6 months to finish. An instructor will monitor your progress and assess your body of work at course completion. UniversalClass™ offers many wonderful learning tools to help you get the most out of your online course, including an online portfolio service that manages all your course completions.
