Course Description
Gregg Shorthand can be a huge time saver in today's busy world. Despite the fact that schools across the nation have stopped teaching this valuable skill, many companies are requiring that their secretaries, administrative assistants and other office workers are fluent in writing and reading shorthand. It is easy to learn, PROVIDING you can devote at least 30 minutes a day to practicing both reading and writing it. Much like a foreign language, the benefits are incredible and learning it can be a blast. However, when you learn a foreign language, you must expect to have to invest some time with memorization and practice of both reading and writing. Come join the fun!
NOTE: For those who repeatedly ask how one can possibly learn shorthand on line, some students opt to scan their writing and email it to me via the classroom, that is fine. Otherwise, all assignments and tests ask questions to help me judge if the student is spending a reasonable amount of time and feels comfortable with the material. If questions arise, students email questions to me and we work on making sure they are comfortable before continuing on.
Gregg Shorthand . Shorthand is a very marketable skill in today's busy world, plus it is a great way to keep your notes private. The final exam is going to consist of students taking shorthand as a song plays. So they will need a media player. All students will need lined paper. The instructor prefers stenography notebooks; they have a line down the middle that divides the paper in half. But if participants do not have access or the funds to buy a few notebooks, lined notebook paper folded in half will suffice.
Students will also need pencils and a timer of some sort for accurate timing. A digital kitchen timer, watch with a second hand, or even another person can help!
Finally, they will need some form of media player capable of playing an MP3 file.
