This is a course designed to for people are intested in teaching English as a second language in China. Course Lessons

  1. What is Language? - In this section we will look a little closer at what language is, it's usage and touch on language study.
  2. The Language Learner - In this lesson we will look a little deeper into the make up of what language learning actually is and how this relates to students second language acqusition.
  3. Being a Good Teacher - In this section we will look at how a teacher should behave in a classroom. Eliciting, concept questions and lesson plans are also discussed in this section.
  4. Teaching Pronunciation - In this lesson we will look at what pronunciation is and different ways to create awareness when trying to teach pronunciation.
  5. Grammar or Topic Based Lessons - In this section we will look at the differences between gramar based and topic based lessons and how the two styles affect an EFL classroom.
  6. EFL and Learning Psychology - In this lesson we will try and establish the different types of psychological learners in an EFL classroom and learn how to stimulate each individual learner
  7. Asia and the Internet - In this section we will look at the uses of the internet in the Asian classroom and the role of the EFL teacher. There is also a list of useful teaching websites for students and teachers for different language skills.
  8. Classroom Management - This section is dedicated to different tools which are available in most EFL classrooms. We will look at how to make these tools come alive during class.
  9. A Few Teaching Extra's - In this final section we will look at a few items to help you and your students grow in the English language outside of the classroom.
