Course Description
Developmental delay or developmental disorder?
The process of development in the child from birth to adolescence is thought to follow certain theoretical patterns, with the understanding that these patterns are only guides. Every child is unique and a certain amount of deviation from the norm is not cause for alarm. However there are situations that could occur to interfere with the developmental process of the child. This course will provide parents, caregivers and teachers and any others working with children with information about these situations and how they affect the child's development. The main objective of the course is to help them to understand the different kinds of developmental disorders-i.e. mental, behavioral, emotional and learning, to allow them to be better able to support a child with a developmental disorder.
