The only requirement for this course Family, DayCare, and Senior Portrait Photography is to have a camera. Any type of camera will work. You may use a 35mm SLR or Digital camera of any quality. No other reading or materials are required.

The goal of the class is to teach the serious beginner the basics of family and group photography and setting up your own at-home or on-location portrait studio. The course can make a professional photographer out of a true beginner. The time it will take depends on the individual. You can literally take this course over an 8 week period of time and learn all you need to know about taking saleable prints and then selling them.

Course Description

If you have an interest in opening your own photography studio or an "on location" family photography business, this is the course you should be taking!  The class will give you step-by-step information so you can start a profitable business photographing families, photographing daycare and preschools, and taking those teen senior portraits.

 

Not only will your work be critiqued by a photographer who has her own photo business, she will tell you how to make those special old-time prints plus give you tips for photographing awesome children's portraits. You will also learn to create your own unique alternative backgrounds and photo studio sets for the lucrative market of  'senior portrait' photography.  So if this is something you always wanted to try, but were a little fearful, this stress-free self-paced course will be just the place to start.

Lesson 1: Basic Photography, Posing & Photographic Composition

In this lesson you will learn the basics of taking a good studio type print and the different types of standard poses: full length, 3/4 shot, half shot, and close up.

Lesson 2: Family and Group Photography

Photographing large groups can be a challenge. This lesson teaches the types of lenses to use, zoom and wide angles, standard and trendy positioning of family groups, unique backgrounds, packaging and pricing proofs and portraits.

Lesson 3: Working With Children

Here you will learn the true art of working with children, how to get the young one to sit still, and even smile.

Lesson 4: Creative Backgrounds For Children

Here you will learn to create your own creative backgrounds for little tikes of all ages.

Lesson 5: Creative Lighting Instruction

Here you will learn more about creative lighting, how to photograph with little or NO STUDIO lighting available. Take great snapshots of your own children or learn to take awesome saleable prints for re-sale using creative lighting techniques.

Lesson 6: Sports Photography, Day Cares, and Senior Class Pictures

In addition to photographing children in the studio you will also learn how to contract for school sports photography, day cares, and other creative money-making portrait ideas.

Lesson 7: Simple Business Plan For Your At-Home Family Portrait Studio

This is a unique business plan for you to copy and use for your own studio. You will also prepare your final portfolio for review by your instructor.
