If you want to improve your spelling,  the only tried and true method is practice, practice and more practice.  This online spelling course will give you that practice.  Each lesson will explain a basic spelling rule and will be followed with a brief exam that will have you practice what  you have learned. In addition,  each lesson will also contain a couple of spelling exercises, a spelling test, as well as netlinks that contains more spelling testing practice.
 
Spelling 101 will help improve your spelling abilities in American English.  You'll learn how to avoid misspellings by recognizing spelling errors quickly .You'll review not only the basic rules of spelling but also the most common spelling "trouble spots (commonly missed word and word patterns),  and the tricky synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, suffixes and prefixes.

Spelling 101Do you use your Spell Check on your computer obsessively? Are you afraid to write anything without a dictionary or computer spelling program?  Are you receiving low grades on schoolwork because of poor spelling?   Are your business emails filled with embarrassing spelling errors?  Sounds like you can use this online course!

  2. Lesson 1: The Basic Rules of Spelling - This lesson describes how to go from singular to plurals and the exceptions to the rule.
  3. Lesson 2: Plural Forms for Names, Compound Words and Numbers - This lesson describes how to form plurals for compound words, numbers, and names.
  4. Lesson 3: Understanding "ie" Versus "ei" and Other Spelling Dilemmas - This lesson discusses when to use ie or ei, and the exceptions to the rule.
  5. Lesson 4: Prefix and Suffix Rules - This lesson explains the rules for adding prefixes and suffixes, and the some of the most commonly used.
  6. Lesson 5: Honomyns---Words that Sound Alike - This lesson describes some of the most common words that sound alike but have multiple spellings and their definitions.
  7. Lesson 6: Commonly Misspelled Words - Here is a list of the most commonly misspelled words.
  8. Putting It Together - A Final Spelling Test and additional resources to improve writing are presented in this final lesson
