 Course Description This course is designed to give students a more advanced look at hoof care. The emphasis of this particular course is the identification and treatment of various lamenesses in horses. Students enrolled in this course will be given the opportunity to learn how anatomy and development contribute to the making of sound horses. Structural abnormalities and gait patterns will be dissected. Lameness conditions in the hoof, lower leg and joints will be discussed in detail. The treatment options and farrier considerations, including an explanation of specialty shoes, for each lameness will be taught.
