Riding Instruction for the Beginner B and Novice A students. This is the second in a series of courses for the novice to learn basic guidelines for teaching children the basics of horseback riding. The goal of this course is to teach the student how to become a teacher. How to effectively teach a young rider the skills necessary to move forward from the Basic Beginner course into a more challenging level of horsemanship. The student will be able to identify the basic gaits, equipment, safety rules, and apply them with their own students.

This course is great for beginners wanting more information about riding lessons and what they entail, as well as valuable information for seasoned instructors looking to add to their lesson plan.

Riding Instruction for the Beginner B and Novice A students. This is the second in a series of courses for the novice to learn basic guidelines for teaching children the basics of horseback riding. Students MUST have taken the previous course to be eligible for this course. Everything in this course and the previous course is designed on a building block approach to teaching riding lessons. Therefore it is imperative that both classes be taken. Students will learn basic riding terminology, basic safety and general skills, which they can then pass onto children and adults interested in basic knowledge of horseback riding skills. This course is great for beginners wanting more information about riding lessons and what they entail, as well as valuable information for seasoned instructors looking to add to their lesson plan.

This course offers 1.0 CEUs upon successful completion. You may take this online course with or without CEU documentation.   1. Let's Refresh - This lesson will be a review of the previous course, with additional information to round out the first 8 weeks of training.
  2. Adding New Elements to Make your Student Shine - This lesson continues the refresher, with added elements concerning hands, legs, and seat.
  3. Balance, forward seat, and posting - A lesson about the use of legs and back to maintain balance, begin posting and maintain control throughout.
  4. Introducing the canter or lope - This lesson deals with moving from the trotting gait into the lope or canter.
  5. Putting it all together - The final student lesson in this course is the 8th week, and should be a time of putting together what the student has learned, so they can then graduate the following week.
  6. Games on horseback and other information - A glimpse into games on horseback, documents for the school and a link to legal information for the beginning teachers.
