Do you have an interest in the environment ? Do you want to learn how organisms interact with their environments? This course is designed for students interested in learning about the basic principles of ecology. It will cover topics of ecology in four different components: organisms , populations , communities , and ecosystems . Students will learn how animals and plants utilize Earth's natural resources and compete with each other for survival. Ecological mathematical models will be described and students will learn how to predict outcomes of various ecological scenarios . This course will also help the student gain an appreciation for natural environments and the connections between living and non-living things. Ecology is a science that is rapidly advancing and its contributions will be necessary for the sustainability of our planet in the future. General requirements for this course are high school level math, reading, and writing skills. Students will also need a scientific calculator (or a calculator with the natural log function).
