Course Description

Get Started Teaching Online! This  'how to' course is for anyone* interested in creating a classroom in cyberspace that can attract hundreds of students interested in whatever you're teaching.

 

Lessons in this course are designed for anyone wanting to teach an online class but not sure how to begin. Learn how to use all the classroom tools, methods to make online instruction a rewarding experience for everyone, as well as numerous tips on how to increase your student enrollment. Learn how to:

  • Create Lessons
  • Create Tests and Quizzes
  • Use the Forum area, netlinks, class polls, surveys and other student activities
  • How to follow student progress and record student work
  • How to use the Grade book
  • How to use the File Sharing area
  • Use Student Feedback tools
  • Make use of Instructor Controls and other Classroom settings
  • and much more.....

 

Instructor Requirements *

To host a course on UniversalClass individuals must be able to meet these minimum requirements:


1.) Education*- Four year (BA) college degree accredited by an agency recognized by the Department of Education(an additional 2 year MA degree is encouraged as well as advanced post graduate work)


2.) Work/Field Experience- Four to Six years work experience (outside of school) in the area of interest being instructed


3.) Writing/ Communication Skills- Excellent Use of the English Language,Excellent writing skills (Correspondence through email will be an essential component. We recommend that you can type at least 30 wpm)

 

*Craft and Hobby courses (such as painting..) personal experience in developing expertise is stressed. If you are interested in developing a non academic course and have acquired other credentials and personal expertise please submit your vitae along with a summary of your course for consideration before development.   1. Lesson 1: About UniversalClass and Teaching Online - Introduction to the services at UniversalClass and teaching Online.
  2. Lesson 2: For Instructors: Creating a Classroom and Developing Course Content - This lesson will demonstrate how to begin instructing online by first creating and developing a course.
  3. Lesson 3: For Instructors: Developing Class Lessons - The class lesson is the central area of instruction. Tips on how to use the Lesson text as an effective online platform.
  4. Lesson 4: For Instructors: How to Insert Images - How to insert pictures within your lessons is explained. (Movie demonstration and pictorial demonstration are presented).
  5. Lesson 5: For Instructors: How to Insert Audio Files - This lesson will demonstrate how to insert Audio Files within a lesson (movie demonstration and pictorial demonstration are presented.
  6. Lesson 6: For Instructors: How to Insert Movies - This lesson will demonstrate how to insert Movie Files within a lesson (movie demonstration and pictorial demonstration are presented.
  7. Lesson 7: For Instructors: How To Use Lesson Components and File Sharing - Learn how to increase student participation through lesson components.
  8. Lesson 8: For Instructors: Assignments and Quizzes/Tests - How to create assignments and online Quizzes/Tests using this platform.
  9. Lesson 9: For Instructors: Using General Communications - How to use our general communication tools.
