Course Overview

Greetings! This course is designed to teach four amazing performance quality horse tricks. Whether you want to break into the equine entertainment industry or just wow people at your barn this class is for you. Any skill level of horse and rider can learn these easy to follow tricks. By the end of the class your horse will know how to give you a kiss and a hug as well as to answer yes and no to humorous questions.
Once you have mastered the trick training skills this class will walk you through putting together a performance. You will learn about costume and music selection as well as how to string the tricks together. The last lesson even includes how to market and advertise your performance.
There are many books and videos out on how to trick train a horse but none of them give you personal advise from a real trick horse trainer. Through e-mail correspondence you can e-mail me directly and get up to date answers on your latest training questions. I have years of experience in the trick horse industry so it will be like having a personal clinic right in your very own home!
Happy trick training!

Course Requirements

Owning your own horse is not a requirement for this class. If your own horse is not an option try borrowing or renting one from a friend. However, if a horse is still outside of your grasp don't worry. This class offers a great inside look at the history of trick horses, horse behavior and horse training. These are all valuable topics for horsemen of any age and skill level.

Course Goals

The goals of this course are:

1) To provide students with a solid foundation of knowledge on the trick horse history and its famous horses.
2) To give students the background on horse behavior and to be able to assess body language changes of a horse.
3) Allow students to evaluate potential trick horses on both confirmation and personality.
4) Enable students to teach a horse how to give a kiss on command.
5) Enable students to teach a horse how to give a hug on command.
6) Enable students to teach a horse how to say yes on command.
7) Enable students to teach a horse how to say no on command.
8) Provide students with knowledge on how to develop and market a trick horse program.
9) Provide students with advise, encouragement, and suggestions throughout their training process.

Course Materials

All course materials are provided through the class. Netlinks are provided to augment the course content. Suggested readings are available by request through the teacher at the end of the course for further study.

Grading Policy

Students are graded on a number of written tests and assignments given at the end of each lesson. The success of how well you have mastered the tricks is not a portion of the grading policy. Not every horse learns at the same rate. In addition, the physical teaching of the tricks is not required. Some students may opt to take the course for the knowledge and apply it to practice at a latter date. It is necessary that you complete the lessons in order and participate fully in all class events and assignments.

Disclaimer

The purpose of this class is solely for educational reasons. Any certificates that you are awarded at the end of the class are for your own gratification and will document this course completion and academic performance only. This class does not count towards any commercial certification or continuing education degrees.
