Course Description

Cat and dog drinkingBringing home a new pet to join your family is always a fun and exciting time.  But it also comes with a huge responsibility.  This animal now depends on you for food, shelter, medical care, and companionship.  In short, you hold their very life in your hands.  This fun and informative course will help you cover all the basics of animal care.  Every thing from feeding recommendations, bathing tips, and basic first aid topics are covered in just 12 easy to learn lessons.  Just follow along and you'll be a pro in no time at all!

Course Requirements

There are no requirements for this course other than a high school reading level.

Course Goals

Students will learn:

-The different nutritional phases in a dogs life

-Feeding tips for Cat owners

-Essential Pet Items

-The basics of how to wash your cat or dog

-The importance of grooming your pet  and how to groom.

-Heartworms: what are they and treatment

-What constitutes an emergency, and what you can and can't treat safely

-First aid situations: what you need to know to help your pet.

-Pet Poisoning and seeking help

-Home preparation for new pets

-Pet owner responsibility: dealing with the good along with the bad.

-Pet boarding tips and resources

All course material will be provided in this course.

Grading Policy

Each lesson will include a lesson review quiz along with an assignment. Students will successfully complete this course with 70% or better.
