Course Description

 

Organize Your Home and Family for an Emergency and Disaster, is a fun and easy course that will make the idea of getting your home and family organized for safety a reality. Millions of families think about organizing basic supplies but few ever get around to it.  

Emergency or disaster situations usually do not provide enough warning. You could easily have the basic necessary resources on hand to get your family through the first hours of a difficult situation when you do the quick tips in this course.

Of course, it's impossible to plan for every single type of emergency or disaster. You can't predict exactly what will happen in your life, even on a daily basis. But that's why these are emergency situations. You have to get organized ahead of time- just in case.

Get your home supplies organized so you can have the peace of mind you deserve. Find out that having emergency supplies can be helpful in even for everyday home based emergencies. You can use you supplies and replenish them as you go through your daily activities and chores and still have what you need in an emergency.

Course Requirements

Students should have at least a high school reading level. <br>There are no required books or other materials for this course.

Course Goals

The goal of this class is to provide all the basic steps needed to start getting your home and family organized for safety in the event of an emergency or disaster, or for other basic emergency needs.

Course Materials

All materials are supplied in the course. However, the ability to download PDF files and access the Internet will be necessary to take advantage of all of the course resources. 

Grading Policy

Students are expected to complete the lessons, assignments, and other course activities. You may not have all of your supplies organized by the end of the class but you will have the information you need to continue to work on your organizing project.

Course Outline

In this course you'll learn how to organize emergency kits as you do everyday chores without spending a lot of money.

 

By following the lessons, you'll have a basic "grab and go" emergency kit for the first three critical days of an emergency for each member of the family which will include necessary amounts of water and foods to help keep you healthy. Plus, learn resources to create recipes that your whole family would enjoy.

Creating a simple Emergency Planning Binder will be one of the best ideas of the course. This planning resource will come in handy for multiple occasions in the home. Stop looking for family contact information or the emergency plans from your child's school or your workplace. You'll have what you need in your new emergency binder.
