Course Goals

The goal of this course is to teach you to paint many different subjects, using a variety of brushes.  Once you complete this course, you will be able to paint on any surface, using your  painting skills and creativity.

My goal is for you to feel confident to use your own imagination with the strokes you learn and make them your own!

Course Materials

Miscellaneous Supplies:  paper towels, brush basin, wax paper or practice pad, cotton swabs (not too fuzzy), natural sponge (or you can cut up kitchen sponges into 8 small squares), stylus (optional - for painting dots)

Acrylic Brushes:  You can use Royals, Papillon, Loew-Cornell, or Plaid brand brushes.

Papillon brushes are very reasonably priced and can be found at:  http://www.artistsclub.com  Papillon brushes are one of the best brushes I have used for this painting.  You can get the others on the list in a craft supply store in your area.

You can get the other brands at:  http://hofcraft.com

Acrylic Paints:  Folk Art or DecoArt
If you have other acrylic paints on hand, try them too!  Many people have DecoArt Americana paints.  These are thinner than Folk Art, but you can work them.  DecoArt is the most popular paint used by decorative painters.

Shades of Colors:  Choose your own color shades.  There are so many colors on the market and you make this a fun process.  I am giving you suggestions of shades.  Pick a light, medium, and dark shade.  You will mix these for more colors.  If you want to just buy 2 shades, you will be fine.  You can use any colors you want for your designs.  This is another way for you to be creative and have painting choices.

Yellows - 3 shades
Browns - 3 shades
Purples - 3 shades
Blues - 3 shades
Orange - 2 shades
