Course Description
Today you hear much about medical transcription, "enroll in XYZ school for this much money and make fabulous income working at home." If you ever wondered whether this would work for you , this class gives you a great overview as to the ramifications, whether or not you have the aptitude or interest, and will leave you with enough information to make an intelligent decision as to further training.
The course is designed to be fun, informative and give you a real feel for the industry and how it might relate to you. It will provide you resources to continue on if it's something you're really interested in, where to go to get more training, explain the job opportunities, and goals and strategies to get you to that point.

Course Requirements
PC with internet access.
Time to Complete: One Week Average 15 to 20 hours
It does not require any previous education or experience, though for the career, you will need good typing and spelling skills, and have an "ear" (or eye in this case) for learning new words. You do the entire course on-line working at your own pace on your own time frame.
Course Goals
You will learn whether this exciting career is really for you. Even if you don't go on to become a medical transcriptionist, the knowledge you gain will be beneficial in interpreting your own interaction within the medical community for your health care. It is a self-assessing course wherein the student may quickly and easily establish the feel for the training process, try a few sample lessons, then make a determination as to whether the career is the right path. If successful, student may move into medical transcription, or a medical coding career.

Internet access. An English dictionary will be helpful too.
Grading Policy
With each set of information presented, you will have an interactive quiz you may grade yourself with an expectation of 80% or better overall. To arrive at your percentage, just divide the wrong answers with the total questions, and subtract the answer from 100%. The self-evaluation will give you a feel for your aptitude in this industry. A certificate of participation will be provided if requested.

Provides you with the parameters of the knowledge required and what is typical in the training process.
C. Related Knowledge and Experience.
Tells you what useful skills you may already have that would be beneficial in pursuing this occupation.
D. Why Haven't I Heard About Medical Transcription Before?
Explains why this critical part of the health industry has been relatively unknown in the past, but has finally come into its own.
E. Is Medical Transcription a Good Home-Based Business?
Explains why this career is an exceptional one for those who want to stay at home and still make a very good income.
F. Current Market for Transcriptioniosts
Explains the need for MTs now and in the future.
G. Equipment and Software.
Explains what kind of equipment is needed to perform the job. Dictation and transcription and data file transfer processes
H. Medical Transcription as a Profession.
Explains the "professional" aspects of MT workers.
I. Information About Certification.
Tells about the national certification process should an MT wish to pursue it.
PART II This section is a thumbnail of actual transcriptionist training material, which is entirely interactive, with information presented for the student to evaluate and learn, and question and answers that are self-directing. It includes:

Gives you some fun ways to test your English knowledge and use.
B. Dynamics of Medical Vocabulary and Word Building
Exposes you to the basics of Latin, how medical words are formed.
C. Proofreading and Editing.
Provides actual medical reports for you to read and edit based on your newly acquired knowledge.

A thumbnail of anatomy, body words and body words.

sets up a way for you to listen to actual words of dictation.
