Course Description
The decision to go to college is a one of the most important choices you can make. The college admission process should not start at the end of a student's high school career. Preparing for college entails a lot of planning for the future and making very important decisions early on. This course will help prospective college students and their parents understand the steps that need to be taken in order to get ready for college. Topics covered are: basic terms, standardized testing, the application process, financial aid, scholarships and much more!
Course Requirements
Those who enroll in College Admissions 101 must have at least a high school reading and writing level.
Course Goals
The goal of College Admissions 101 is to help prospective college students and/or parents prepare for college and the admission process. The course offers techniques and strategies used to successfully gain college admission.
Course Materials
Students must have a computer and internet access. If the student is in high school, a calendar devoted to college admissions planning and deadlines is strongly suggested. You can make a calendar on your computer or purchase one; either is fine to use.
Grading Policy
Students must pass each quiz by at least 50% out of a possible 100%. Each lesson is attached to the previous lesson. Therefore, a passing grade is necessary in order to progress satisfactorily to the next lesson. If a passing grade is not achieved, students should review the lesson and re-take the quiz. Each student will be kept current on his/her grade percentage after the completion of each lesson.
Disclaimer
This course does not guarantee college admission. It is, however, to be used as a template to increase students' chances of accomplishing that goal.
