This technique is on QVC with Donna Dewberry. In this course, you will be motivated, inspired, and enriched to learn this easy decorative painting. In this course, you will learn adorable daisies, all types of leaves, cute bees, colorful pansies, and beautiful wildroses with leaves. You will also learn completed designs that you can use for many projects. Everyone loves to receive cards and hand-painted bags. This course will give you the tools, tutorials, and guidance to execute these painting strokes. Young and old can learn One Stroke. In this course, Joan Waff, OSCI (One Stroke Certified Instructor), and certified by Donna Dewberry, will take you through step-by-step all the different elements of this course. Once you learn a few simple techniques, you will be ready to share your creativity with the world through gifts, bazaars, craft shops, craft shows, home decor, and organizations. You will be able to paint on cards, stationary, bags, memory pages in your scrapbooks, photo albums covers, pots, clothing, straw hats, golf hats, walls, wood, frames, lunch bags, and many other surfaces. You will also get many websites to visit for supplies, painting surfaces, and online marketing. Today is the day for you to jump in and learn a new hobby that will enrich your life and others for the rest of your life. Let's start painting! Learning at home and at your own pace is what this course is all about. Joan is there for you everyday! Course Requirements There are no requirements for this class and no art experience to take this course. All the steps needed are in the stroke guides and written instructions. Course Goals This course will teach you many "One Stroke" techniques that can be used alone or combined to make any number of designs. The goal is to have you become proficient in designing your own projects. You will learn the strokes in the heart leaf, grape leaf, fall leaf, filler leaf, daisy, bee, pansy, wildrose, as well as complete designs on Daisies and Bees, Pansies, Fall Leaves and Wildrose. Another goal in this course if for you to become proficient in mixing colors to make your designs more interesting. Reading Materials The written instructions and stroke guide sheet are included in this course. You do not have to purchase any additional books. You will need the following painting supplies:
Paint: Folk Art acrylic paint by Plaid
Colors: floating mediuim (colorless), wicker white, engine red, thicket, sunflower yellow, sunny yellow, yellow ochre, burnt umber, licorice
Brushes: Plaid by Donna Dewberry (green handles)
Sizes: #8 Flat, #10 Flat, #12 Flat, 3/4" Flat, Medium Scruffy, #2 Script Liner Miscellaneous: Foam Plates (palette), Brush Basin, Paper Towels, Wax Paper (to practice on), and Artist Pad (optional) Grading Policy There will be no grades issued in this course. This course is for you to find a new hobby and use it for the rest of your life.
Completing this course is simply finishing the lessons, assignments, and quizzes Why take this course? Taking this course, will teach you a simple decorative painting technique that you can use on limitless surfaces. You will gain confidence and creativity and will be able to share this with the world, through gifts, home decor, craft shows, bazaars, charities, and craft shops. The techniques you will learn will last you a lifetime of spreading happiness to the world through your decorative art. You don't have to be an expert in painting to create beautiful designs. Your work will be unique. Course Organization and Topics This course is organized in teaching you different topics. You will be learning Daisies, with bees and leaves, Pansies, with leaves, Fall Leaves, and Wildroses, with leaves.
After each topic, you will be painting a complete design of the elements learned. i.e. After you complete the lesson in the "Daisy" Lesson, you will be given a complete design, using the daisy, leaves and bees in a cute design. You will be painting a complete design after each topic. This way, you will learn how to put designs together. Instructional Methods This course is teaching the One Stroke painting technique, by Donna Dewberry. Joan will be taking you step-by-step through each stroke, with strokes guides in the lessons, as well as written instructions. Before you begin strokes, you will be given the size brush and paint color to use. Her stroke guides are given in small segments, so you build strokes upon strokes to a finished element. You can e-mail Joan with your painted strokes for her feedback and for any questions you have on your lesson. Learning Outcomes By successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Describe brushes and paints used in One Stroke Painting.
- Demonstrate painting daisies, bees, heart leaaves, grape leaves, and Fall leaves.
- Demonstrate painting acorns.
- Demonstrate painting the pansy flower.
- Demonstrate painting wild rose, and
- Demonstrate mastery of lesson content at levels of 70% or higher.
