Do you find yourself intimidated by computer jargon?  Would you like to have a clearer understanding (in non-jargon language) of how your computer works?  Computer Basics 101 will demonstrate and explain in an easy-to-follow self-paced format.


This class is designed for the first time computer user,
but it's also intended for  those whose familiarity with computers is limited and who want a better understanding of the basics. It's written for anyone who has not grown up with a personal computer but now needs to acquire the same assuredness of the younger generation of internet surfers.

 

When you complete this course, you will be able to navigate your computer system, be familiar with some of the most popular software, know how and where to find somewhat difficult information rather quickly, and navigate the internet with the utmost confidence.

 

Whether you're a novice or simply someone facing a daunting basic computer skill challenge, this course will give you a greater understanding and confidence in your technical skills whether on your personal computer or a small office computer.  Why not join and take the stress out of using your computer?

Course Requirements

This course will not require you to have previous experience in any particular area but you should have a high school reading level. No books will be required.

·         Basic components of a home computer

·         Common Computer Terminology

·         Essential Safety Startup

·         How to back up data and other effective data management and preservation methods.

·         Different kinds of internet connections and research sources.

·         How to set up  email, file attachments, email protocol and basic internet manners.

·         Computer short cuts and navigational tips.

·         Locating computer files

·         How to open/ close/ save files in your computer

·         Commonly used computer programs

·         How to handle emergency issues.

Course Materials

All course material will be provided in the lessons and netlinks. There are no required materials to purchase before taking the class

Grading Policy

Each lesson will include a lesson review quiz along with one or two assignments. Students will successfully complete this course with 70% or better.
