Course Description
Exploration of the physical, mental, emotional, social, and moral development occurring from preschool through elementary school aged children. Child Development and psychology involves studying about how children interact with one another and the environment.
Course Requirements
There will be a great deal of reading for this class involving online sources as well as printed publications. You are expected to complete your reading assignments within an appropriate time period and turn in a summary to reflect your understanding of the material.
Course Goals
-actively increase your knowledge of developmental psychology for early childhood -deepen your respect for children and the families, educators, and communities who nurture them -understand the basic concepts and theories of child development as these apply to the psychological processes of perception, cognition, social interactions, affective, and moral development

Grading Policy
Grades will be based on students' performance on the examinations and other class requirements.
I will make an overall assessment of your responsible, and active participation in the class process. Responsible performance in this class is essential for the attainment of overall class goals. Student learning is strengthened and enhanced through field-site experiences at local elementary schools and preschools. Students may elect to obtain field experience and extra credit by working in a variety of program-approved academic and applied developmental settings.
