Course Description

Card gamesIn this easy-to-follow self-paced course,discover fun methods to learn, play and win popular card games! You'll learn how to play top trick-taking games, point-based and banking card games, card games for children, classic stand-bys such as BlackJack,  Rummy, Stud Poker and much more.

Card games are excellent diversions that build numerical, analytical, and strategic skills.  From the 10th Century A.D., when the earliest-known cards were created in China, to the current online poker phenomenon, card games have become more and more popular.  The United States has been one of the world's leaders in playing and promoting new card games since the 1800s  and the popularity of games like Blackjack and Poker continue to increase to this day, even to the extent of having online equivalents with no real "cards" whatsoever!

Get the inside "deal" on many card games, learn the etiquette and terminology, and teach and entertain children, family and friends. Each of these games is explained with an eye on enlightening, instructing, and entertaining both veteran and potential players.

 

Course Requirements

This course is for fun! Information about how to play several types of card games, and links to playing these games online or downloading the software to play on your own computer are listed. While there will be an easy 10 question lesson review quiz, and optional assignments- these activities will not be letter graded but reviewed by the instructor.

Course Goals

Learn a brief history, etiquette, and terminology of card games

Learn the rules of card games Canasta, Rummy, Hearts, Pinochle, Blackjack, President, Euchre, Whist, Stud Pokers, Texas Hold’em, Old Maid, SlapJack, and War

Learn about the numerous free online card playing sites
