The real fun in candle making is the experimentation. This course was designed to teach you the steps to making your own candles, from how to choose your wax to picking your molds and much more. This course requires the student to complete many assignments and quizzes but also stresses student participation and feedback. I also ask that assignments are done on your word processor and then copied/ pasted on the assignment pages I cannot download attachments. If you send a lesson as an attachment I will not grade it and you will be asked to resubmit it. I have a lot of students and if I download assignments it will bog down my pc. There is a lot of work involved but grading is very lenient. This class is for you to learn a new skill. It's not rocket science! Have fun with it!
Grading will be based on assignment and test scores as well as participation

11. How long is this course?
The core, or basics, of this course will be presented in the first 8 lessons. I recommend that each student complete one lesson per week and no more than two. The remainder of the lessons will involve recipes and packaging techniques, which can be done at the student's leisure.
12. What will I achieve by completing this course?
You will learn to make soap in a fast, safe and easy way. You will be presented with several different methods to make your own soap. Just choose the one that fits your needs best. You will learn all the safety precautions involved in making soaps and candles. You can then take this knowledge and make gifts for friends and family or start your own business.

The candle making lessons will be first followed by the soap making lessons.
The first 8 lessons will deal with safety, supplies and methods. The remaining lessons will deal with specific recipes, packaging and designing your own products.
14. Do I have to participate/ is this part of my grade?
Yes. Participation is required because I feel that it is necessary to your success. Each student will use the class forum. You will use the forum to post problems, as well as successes. Each student has something to add to the class. There are no stupid questions when it comes to making soap. Your question might be the one that saves the rest of the class from a disaster. Your success may help others to gain the courage they need for their own soap making endeavors. The beauty of making your own soap is that you pour your own energy into each recipe so even if 25 people are all making the exact same soap, all of these soaps will still be different because they are each a part of the person who made them.
15.Is there a pre test or a course post-test?
No. I don't feel that either test is necessary. You will gain knowledge as the course progresses. Each lesson builds on the previous one and gives you the information that you will need. I suggest that you print the lessons and have them handy as you begin your soap and candle making adventure.
