Course Description


 
Have you always wanted to learn acupuncture? This self-paced course will demystify acupuncture treatments and techniques. Students will explore the history of acupuncture, acupuncture theories, diagnostics, factors that influence acupuncture therapy, treatment precautions, techniques, methods, and guidelines for prescriptions.

 

.The class is divided into the following nine comprehensive modules (lessons):
 
  • A Short History of Acupuncture
  • Acupuncture Treatment
  • Factors that Influence Therapy
  • Treatment Precautions
  • Ancient Methods of Selecting Points for Various Disorders
  • Acupuncture Techniques
  • Guidelines for Creating Prescriptions
  • Acupuncture and Modern Science
  • Finding Qualified Acupuncturists and Treatment Resources

Providing a learning platform for acupuncture students as well as practitioners, this course will help develop skills in applying ancient and modern acupuncture techniques--techniques such as moxibustion, aricular acupuncture, cupping  and electro-acupuncture--to name a few. Topics also include point selection, disease diagnosis, treatment method, appropriate precautions, and accurate prescriptions.  If you're interested in learning acupuncture techniques or just interested in learning more about the field itself, this class will meet and exceed your expectations.

Course Requirements

This course will not require you to have previous experience in any particular area but you should have a high school reading level. No books will be required.

The definition of Acupuncture
History of Acupuncture
Point selection and various techniques used
Factors that influence acupuncture therapy,
Treatment precautions,
and making use of additional resources

Grading Policy

A brief 10 to 20 pt. quiz will follow each lesson that will directly apply what you have learned. Students will successfully complete this course with 70% or better.
